Sales calls with a real-time AI copilot: discovery and objection handling
Most sales calls are not lost on price. They are lost earlier, in a discovery phase that never found the real problem, or later, in an objection that got a defensive answer. A real-time copilot will not sell for you, but it can keep the right question and the right fact in front of you at the moment you need them. Here is how to use one well.
What a sales copilot is (and is not)
Witifier reads the live captions of your call in Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom in the browser, and shows short cards with what you could say next. Choose Sales call as the purpose and the mix changes for selling:
- Question cards for discovery.
- Knowledge cards with real facts, never invented: useful when a prospect mentions a regulation, a competitor's market or an industry figure.
- Answer and Argument cards for objections.
- Close cards when the conversation is ready for a next step.
- Heads-up cards when something said deserves attention, like a budget hint or a new decision-maker.
- No humor by default. Sales, like Interview and Negotiation, starts with jokes off. Turn the Wit switch on if your style and your prospect allow it.
What it is not: a script reader, a CRM or a call recorder. Witifier does not record audio; it needs captions on.
Discovery: questions that find the real problem
Good discovery is mostly asking and shutting up. Questions that consistently work:
- "What made you look at this now, rather than six months ago?"
- "What happens if you do nothing?"
- "How are you handling it today, and what does that cost you?"
- "Who else will care about this decision?"
- "What would make this a clear success a year from now?"
The hard part is not knowing these questions; it is remembering the right follow-up in the moment, when the prospect has just said something interesting. That is where Question cards earn their place: they react to what was actually said, not to a generic checklist.
Objection handling without getting defensive
A simple pattern for any objection: acknowledge, ask, answer, check.
| Objection | Ask first | Then answer with |
|---|---|---|
| "It's too expensive." | "Compared with what?" | The cost of the current problem, not your discount |
| "We're happy with our current tool." | "What would you change about it if you could?" | One specific difference that matters to them |
| "Send me some information." | "Sure. What should it answer for you?" | A follow-up tied to their stated problem |
| "Now isn't a good time." | "What's happening that makes it hard?" | A smaller first step, or a real date to revisit |
| "I need to talk to my boss." | "What will they want to know?" | A summary they can forward |
Answer and Argument cards help with the third column. The first column is on you: slow down, and ask before you answer.
Closing for a next step
"Closing" on most calls means agreeing a concrete next step, not signing a contract. Close cards appear when the conversation sounds ready: a proposed date for a demo with the technical team, a trial, a meeting with the budget holder. If you never hear a natural moment, ask: "What would be a sensible next step from here?"
Setting up for a sales call
- Join in the browser. Meet, Teams (teams.live.com / teams.microsoft.com) and Zoom (app.zoom.us) work with the extension. For desktop Zoom or Teams on Windows, Witifier App has a "Whole PC" mode that reads Windows Live Captions.
- Turn captions on in the prospect's language. Wrong-language captions make nonsense. Ideas come in the language of the conversation.
- Pick Smart. It is the recommended intelligence level. Medium is faster and cheaper; Super smart is for complex technical sales.
- Use a compact layout. 1×3 or 2×3 slots is plenty. You need eye contact more than cards.
- If you share your screen for a demo, the box hides itself in Meet, Teams and Zoom. Open the separate window (⧉) on a second monitor if you want ideas during the demo.
After the call
Witifier's notes include a summary, decisions, tasks, best moments and a draft follow-up email. Edit the email, send it within the hour, and paste the decisions into your CRM. The meeting library keeps past calls, which helps when the deal comes back two months later and you need to remember what the prospect said about their budget.
Should you tell the prospect?
Nobody joins the call and nothing appears on the guest list, so it is your choice. Many reps simply say "I use an assistant to take notes and check facts", the same way they would mention a note-taker. It rarely causes friction and it makes any fact you quote more credible, not less. For the longer argument, see what "undetectable" really means.
