Witifier Web vs Witifier App: which one should you use?

Witifier team3 min read

Witifier comes in two editions that give you the same ideas in the same box, but run in different places and are paid for differently. If you are deciding which one to try, this is the comparison in plain terms.

The one-paragraph answer

Witifier Web runs in the cloud. You install the Chrome extension, sign in with Google and go. Five free minutes, then €19/month for 6 hours a month. Witifier App is a free program for Windows (Mac and Linux in beta) that uses your own Claude Pro or Max subscription through Claude Code, Anthropic's official tool. If you already pay for Claude and use Windows, the App costs you nothing extra. If you want zero setup, use Web.

How minutes work on Web

A minute counts for each minute that captions arrive while Witifier is on; when paused, nothing is used. The intelligence level changes the rate:

  • Super smart: 2 minutes per minute. The most careful ideas.
  • Smart (recommended): 1 minute per minute.
  • Medium: 0.25 minutes per minute. Faster and cheaper, so 6 hours can stretch a long way.

The 6 hours renew every month. You subscribe, change your card or cancel from My account; if you cancel, you keep access until the end of the paid period.

Why the App is free

Witifier is powered by Claude, from Anthropic. The App runs on your computer and talks to Claude through Claude Code using the subscription you already have, so there is no API bill and nothing to pay Witifier. The welcome panel installs Claude Code with one button and asks you to sign in to Claude. If you reach your Claude plan's temporary limit, Witifier pauses itself; switch to Medium, which uses less, or resume when the limit resets.

Who should use which

Choose Witifier Web if

  • You want to try it in two minutes without installing a program.
  • You use a Mac or a work laptop where you cannot install software.
  • You do not have a Claude Pro or Max subscription.
  • Your calls are in Meet, Teams or Zoom in the browser, or you watch YouTube.

Choose Witifier App if

  • You already pay for Claude Pro or Max.
  • You are on Windows and use the desktop Zoom or Teams apps ("Whole PC" mode).
  • You use Witifier for many hours a month.
  • You prefer your meeting notes to stay on your own computer.

What is the same in both

Everything you see during the call: the color-coded cards (Knowledge, Wit, Humor, Irony, Running gag, Question, Proverb, plus Answer, Argument, Close and Heads-up in work modes and Flirt in Dating), the eight modes, the three intelligence levels, HELP ME (Alt+Shift+W), the memory that makes callbacks work an hour later, the box layouts from 1×3 to 4×3, the separate window, and the notes after the call. Ideas come in the language of the conversation; the interface is in English and Spanish.

Three quick questions

Is the Web free trial enough to judge it? Five minutes is one short call. Use it in a real conversation, not a test video, and on Smart, so you see what the recommended level does.

Does the App need the internet? Yes. It runs on your computer, but the ideas come from Claude, so it needs a connection like any Claude session.

Is one smarter than the other? No. Both are powered by Claude and offer the same three intelligence levels.

Can I switch later?

Yes. The extension's Options page (right-click the Witifier icon → Options) lets you choose Web or App and switch whenever you like. A common path: start with Web's free minutes to see if Witifier suits you, then move to the App if you have Claude and use it a lot.
